Thanks to funding from a Northeast SARE Grant, we are offering 25 agricultural service providers the opportunity to build their farm financial business advising skills through this innovative format that combines on-line learning with mentor-supported client work.

Year 1: Learn about developing an electronic record-keeping system (QuickBooks) and work with farm clients to develop theirs.

Year 2: Building on the skills of year 1, participants learn how to develop and utilize financial statements to guide business decisions. They will again implement these skills with their farm clients to start analyzing the business.

Year 3: Participants will learn how to assist farmers/producers to assess the financial health, market channel profitability, and calculate key metrics, including costs of production and breakeven levels.
