???Yes – My career started as a chef so you may be asking: what do I know about the business of farming?
There are a lot of similarities, actually! 1st – farmers and chefs are passionate about good food! 2nd – we know hard, physical labor that beats up our bodies… I’ve burned myself so many times, I don’t have any fingerprints.
Having launched a catering business, I know the struggles of entrepreneurship from operating the business, to marketing, to managing the numbers.
✏️ I started working with farmers in 2008; in 2016 I wrote The Farmer’s Office. It’s a business book for farmers that pulls together all the lessons learned and tools developed from the years working with farmers. The 2nd edition was published in 2024 because I continue to learn so much from you all. I had to share all the new tools and skills.
??? I earned an MBA in entrepreneurship and taught accounting at Babson College for 2 years.
⏰ I lie awake at night wondering how I can better help farmers and ranchers build more sustainable businesses, so YOU can sleep better at night.
? I love growing vegetables in my tiny backyard garden. I pretend that it helps me stay better connected with my clients, but really it just makes me happy.
??? I offer online courses to teach farmers how to build profitable businesses so they can live the life they dream of (financially sustainable, with time off for other life activities like family and vacations).
